Bobcat Blast

Weekly Edition: October 18, 2026

Principal's Message

What a blast we had this week at Baldwin Park! Our first graders would say it was a “blast from the past” as they traveled back to pioneer times at the History Center and enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch outdoors. What a fun way to bring history to life!

This week, I also had the VERY cool opportunity to recognize two bright young ladies on our morning announcements! Congratulations to Ronnie Peles and Leela Kumar, who each earned a PERFECT score on their fourth-grade Math FAST assessment! WOW! What an incredible accomplishment! When I asked the girls what helped them prepare, both shared one important secret: practice, practice, practice! That inspired me to announce a new challenge for ALL Bobcats: Let’s increase our time working on IXL, a great online program that builds math fluency and understanding. Did you know students can practice at home, too? Simply access IXL through Launchpad! Starting this week, I’ll be visiting the cafeteria to recognize students for their hard work on IXL with a sweet treat. A little practice, a lot of learning, and a sweet surprise? Sounds like a win-win to me!
And speaking of hard work, we have even more exciting news! Mr. Reese and I have been reviewing our fifth graders’ Science PMA1 scores, and they look GREAT! Way to go, fifth-grade teachers, students, and families! Your hard work is paying off, and we are so proud of you. Keep up the fantastic work, Bobcats!

As we head into another exciting week, let’s remember that October is a time to band together for healthy, safe, drug-free choices during Red Ribbon Week! ❤️ It’s a wonderful opportunity to remind our students that they have the power to make positive choices and encourage their friends to do the same. Let’s show our Bobcat spirit as we stand together and say no to drugs!

A few friendly reminders for our families: Be on the lookout for opportunities to sign up for Teach-In, where family and community members can share their knowledge, talents, and career experiences with our students. If you haven’t already, please submit your ADDitions application if you plan to volunteer at school. We love welcoming our Bobcat families into our classrooms and school community!

Finally, it is certainly beginning to feel like Fall around BPE! 🎃 Pumpkins are popping up all over campus in every shape and size—big, small, bumpy, smooth, and even dressed up as storybook characters! Speaking of storybook characters, I can’t wait to see everyone dressed as their favorite book character for our Character Parade this Friday. What a wonderful way to celebrate the magic of reading!

Let’s make it another amazing week filled with learning, laughter, and a little Bobcat magic. Have a wonderful week, Ohana!

Go Bobcats! 💙🐾

Sincerely,
Mrs. Galvin-Prepetit
